What is Kendamanomics?!

If you've been on TikTok recently, you've seen Kendamanomics posts popping off and probably wondered what’s going on. We’re here to break down the basics.

1. Kendamanomics is an app created by Lotus Kendamas to help players track their kendama skills. Players choose a trick from the app, land it, and upload a video as proof. You can use this as a way to track your own skills, check on your friends progress, or compete for the top spot on the leaderboard. 2. Casey Hansen went viral with a TikTok about trying to reclaim his number one spot on Kendamanomics. With over 5million views from one post alone, Casey brought kendama and the competition for first place into the public's eye. More players started to make videos gunning for the number one spot, sharing their journey, strategy, and the tricks they are landing. For a while these videos only scratch the surface of non-kendama eyes, but as Casey went viral the views on all the videos went up as the algorithm filled people’s feeds with Kendamanomics
   
   

   
   
   

3. Non-kendama players are in on the action now. From choosing fandoms in the comments, to collecting as many players as they can, and making videos about the competition to their own audiences. They are making up backstories and plot points that make getting one of these videos on your feed even more exciting.
   
   

This means that there are a ton of eyes on kendama right now, and that is an amazing thing for our growing sport/hobby/passion. Kendama has been around for over a hundred years in Japan but only started gaining popularity int he US around 2010. We have seen waves of viral attention before with certain countries in the world popping off or influencers showing kendama to their audience, but this is the first time that so many non-kendama players are this invested in such a niche part of our world.
