Kendama paint matters because as you progress and learn balance tricks like lunar and lighthouse, a slip to stick ratio is important. Too slick and it slips off, too sticky and you might catch an edge when correcting.

Since the beginning of Sweets Kendamas it was all about custom painting and that tradition is alive and strong in the Sweets Lab. We produce some the most beautiful and advanced paint designs for Kendama by mixing art and playability. Everything from The Sweets Lab is painted, assembled, and inspected by hand to make sure you are receiving the most reliable and durable Kendama.

Innovation & Design

The progression of Kendama is directly related to not only shape but paint style. On a daily basis we strive to make designs that are not only eye catching but help you advance your skill. We have crafted our own tools and come up with amazing processes to achieve the styles and finishes we produce. All of our Sweets Lab finishes are to make Kendama more fun.

The Prime Custom V16 series was made from the #DesignAPrime contest we hosted Spring 2018. #DesignAPrime contest allowed the kendama community a chance to become a Kendama Designer. We received overo 700 entries, and then held a vote for which designs and ideas people liked the most.

For the Prime Custom V15 series we decided to revist the idea of making kendama colorways based off of shoe designs. This time we picked 3 pretty hype shoes, the Nike Deerupt Runner, The Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97 VF SW, and the Revenge X Storm Low Top Black w/ Flames. Creating kendama designs from shoes is so fun for us, and we believe it really creates some interesting Kendamas, and pushes the capabilities of the Sweets Lab!

For the Prime Custom V14's we decided to create a line based off of, SWEETS! We wanted to make sure all the designs had good tracking, and we wanted to explore new color ways. From those design elements we came up with the Peppermint Bon Bon, the Chocolate Covered Strawberry, and the Sherbet Stripe.

Prime Custom V13 is again based off of some of our favorite sneakers: Jordan 7 Retro Barcelona Nights, Air Jordan 11 Retro Low BG, and the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Semi Frozen Yellow. With this series we really pushed the envelope of what we can do in house, custom lettering, different textures and creative ways of including tracking into the design of the tama.

In house at Sweets Kendamas, we all grew up watching Dragon Ball Z, so we wanted to base the v12's off of characters from the show. Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu were the characters we chose to use. The V12's feature a white split, and sparkly pearl with cushion clear finish. We also released an exclusive line of painted Homegrowns, based off of Goku, and Vegeta!

Prime Custom V11

The Prime custom V11's are the first Prime Customs that we based off of shoes. We went through Flight Club online, and picked some of our favorite shoes we could find on there. We picked the Air Jordan 4 Retro OG 'Cement', The Nike Air Jordan Xx3 23 Chi City Chicago and and the Nike Air Jordan 5 Retro "Grape".

Prime Custom v10

For the Prime Custom V10 series is the first line we created that features a different hardwood with each kendama, and its the first of the series that features 5 different designs!
